Reiki
Reiki is a gentle, vibrational healing practice that supports the body’s
self- healing ability.
Reiki
Reiki (pronounced Ray-Key) is most often translated as “universal life force energy”. It is a combination of two Japanese words – Rei which means “Spirit” or “Universe” and Ki which is “life force energy”. Reiki is a natural, vibrational, hands-on healing practice which uses the universal life force energy or Ki/Chi, to help the body heal itself.

I find it useful for stress management. It is a calming energy that allows the body to bring itself back into balance. Reiki works on the body’s physical, mental, emotional and spirit levels. Reiki is natural.
Mikao Usui founded the system of Reiki back in the early 1900’s. Knowledge is past from teacher to student and has been done so from the beginning. Reiki practitioners can be linked back through their lineage to Mikao Usui. In the mid 1900’s a student of Mikao Usui, Hawayo Takata from Hawaii brought the Reiki system to the West. This system is known as Usui System of Reiki and is widely used throughout the world as both a self-help tool and to assist others in many situations. Reiki does not cure disease or conditions but will help the body manage its symptoms. Reiki practitioners cannot diagnose conditions. Reiki can be found in hospitals, private practice, rest-homes, hospices and fairs.

Sessions involve the client lying down or sitting comfortably while fully clothed. Reiki is offered through light touch at specific points on the body. It is recommended initially to have 3 treatments close together to kick start the healing process of a specific issue.
There is a small body of research that suggests that Reiki treatment can be beneficial in helping with pain, anxiety, depression and fatigue.
Experiences during a Reiki treatment varies from person to person. However, feelings of deep relaxation are usually felt by all.
